by | Mar 29, 2017

The world’s newest and largest container ship, capable of carrying over 20,000 twenty foot containers, has been completed and will make her maiden voyage during April.

The MOL Triumph was received by MOL this week and is the first of six 20,000 TEU class container ships on order. The 20,170 TEU vessel is 400 metres in length and nearly 60 metres wide. To put that into perspective the vessel is longer than the Empire State Building is high, and is approximately the same area size as 4 football pitches.

The MOL Triumph will make her maiden voyage starting from Xingang and will continue to Dalian, Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Yantian and Singapore before arriving in the european ports of Southampton, Hamburg, Rotterdam and Le Havre.
