Hapag UASC Merger Update

by | May 3, 2017

While the merger between ocean carriers Hapag Lloyd and UASC (United Arab Shipping Company) was delayed last month, UASC have still deployed their ships as part of the THE Alliance network from April 1.

The two steamship lines were originally set to merge during March of this year but recently confirmed this had been delayed. The Business Combination Agreement between them has now been extended until 31st May 2017.

In an announcement last Friday from UASC Vice president, Eric B Williams, the line advised their ships would be operating as part of THE Alliance and that the merger was expected to complete within the next couple of months.

THE Alliance is one of three major carrier groups that have aligned and committed to share routes and services from April 2017, the other two being the 2M Alliance and the Ocean Alliance.
